The nearest airport to Ranthambore is Jaipur, which is approximately 165 kilometres away, and the nearest railway station is Sawai Madhopur, which is around 14 kilometres away from the park's main entrance.

The preferred safari zone in Ranthambore depends on its availability when booking. Visitors can book tickets and zones one year in advance. Although all the safari zones of the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve are good and all safari zones have tiger territory, tiger sightings are a matter of chance in the forest and depend entirely on your luck.

There are two types of safari vehicles for the jungle safari in Ranthambore National Park. Safari vehicles include jeeps and canters. The number of vehicles is limited for park visits by the forest department. Private vehicles are not allowed in the park.

Ranthambore National Park is basically divided into 10 safari zones by the Forest Department of the Rajasthan Government. A common perception among people is that the tiger's sightings are only in zones 1 to 5, whereas the sightings of the tiger also occur in zones 6 to 10. Tigers are territorial animals who like to mark their territory and then preserve it very fiercely. All safari zones in Ranthambore have tiger territory. All safari zones are good and offer beautiful and phenomenal scenes in Ranthambore National Park.

There are 10 different safari zones in Ranthambore to promote tourism. These safari zones are well maintained under strict rules and regulations by the park's protection authorities. To know areas of high potential for tiger sightings in Ranthambore, see the main safari zones and points, which are mentioned below:

Zone 1: The entry to the zone is through Singh Dwar. This zone is more of a buffer zone and is home to T-39 and T-57. This zone has been very popular due to the return of Noor (T-39) along with her three cubs, and numerous sightings have been reported during the end of 2016 and early 2017. Other places where you can spot a big cat in this zone are: Tuti ka Nalla, Amreshwar Dang, Sultanpur, Peela Pani, and Gada Dub.

Zone 2: This zone is one of the most important, and a good number of sightings are reported from this zone. The fact that it has water holes and the cats in this zone (T19, T22, T72, T57, T28, T60, and T39) The important points in this area where there are sightings are: Jogi Mahal, Phuta Kot, Phuta Bandha, Lahpur Tiraha, and Nal Ghati. Sightings of leopards in this zone are reported too.

Zone 3: Jogi Mahal, Padam Talab, High Point, Raj Bagh, and Mandook Are primary points where sightings are reported. Padam Talab is one of the vantage points where you can wait to see some big cat action from T-19 and T-28 in this zone.

Zone 4: This zone has lots of places where the shy cats come out, and it also used to be home to the most famous tigress of Ranthambore, Machli. After here, the other cats that can be seen in this zone are T-28, T-64, T-19, T-75, T-41, and T-25. The important points at this point where there are sightings are: Singh Dwar, Malik Talab, Lakkad Da, Adidaant, Lambi, Tamakhan, and Berda.

Zone 5: The entry to this zone is the same as in Zone 4 and has a few common spots for sightings. The points are Singhdwar, Anatpur, Jokha, Dhakda, Kachida, Baghda, and Bakola. The big cats spotted in this zone are T-25, T-28, T-17, T-74, and T-75. Zones 6–10 were added later to the sanctuary, and access to these zones is at the exact opposite end of that of zones 1–5. To enter these zones, the gipsies and canters go through the old city.

Zone 6 (Kundal): shares its boundaries with Zone 1, and there are high chances of spotting T-39 (Noor) with her cubs here too. The landscape of this zone is quite different from zones 1–5 and has more open grasslands with huge mountains in the backdrop. You can spot the Indian gazelle and have the opportunity to spot birds too. (including the endangered red-headed vultures) The points where the tigers have been spotted in this zone are Kala Pani,Saran Ka Pattha, Patwa Ki Baori, Khabli, and Soleshwar.

The other Tigers in this one are: T-34, T-39, T-57, and T-8. Since this zone is close to the village, cattle do go astray, and reports of Kumbha (T-34) killing and feeding on the cattle have been reported.

Zone 7 (Chidikho): This zone has fewer points compared to the rest; the big cats have been spotted at Chidikho, Jamoda, Kushalipura, and Rajbagh Naka. T-8 and T-34 have been spotted in this zone.

Zone 8 (Balas): The tigers spotted here are the same as the ones in Zone 7 (T-8 and T-34). The spots where they were spotted are: Balas, Kherai,Kali,Neemli Dang, Bhat, and Mahakho.

Zone 9 (Kuwal Ji): This zone is about 45 minutes away from the tiger reserve and is located at the banks of the Chakal River. This is home to T-42 (Fateh), an aggressive male who is known to chase the forest department vehicles and has been captured on trap cams killing a sloth bear too! Other than T-42, T-59 can be spotted too. This zone is also home to caracals, sloth bears, and aquatic birds.

Zone 10 (Aantri): In this zone, other than birds, tigers can be spotted at Aantri, Kushalipura, Bodal, Halonda, and Banskhori. Tigers in this zone spotted are: T-13, T-42, and T-43.

How to Book Safari
Safari booking at Ranthambhore National Park is controlled by the Dept. of Forest (Govt. of India). As per the current policy, 20 jeeps (6-seaters) and 20 canters (20-seaters) are allowed to enter the park per drive (morning and afternoon). park entrance fees & vehicles are paid in advance on a first come first served basis against a non-refundable, 100% deposit basis only. Jeep and Canter Safari Booking Procedures
* To book a safari, we require a written request, including all visitors full names.

We need identification proof. The only identification proof that is accepted for foreigners is their passport number with their nationality.

* For Indian national identification proof that is accepted, it is any one of the following: passport numbers, driving licence numbers, pan card numbers, voter identity card numbers, school IDs, or government IDs.

* We need a copy of everyone's ID (these should be scanned and emailed as soon as they are available), which is required to be submitted before safari, and please carry the original ID at the time of safari.

* Please mention dates of drives, including morning and afternoon information, along with the type of vehicle required, i.e., jeep or canter.

* Jeep safaris in Ranthambhore are subject to availability.

* Your boarding palace or hotel name in Ranthambhore

Jeep Safari in Ranthambore National Park:
Jeep Safari in Ranthambore is one of the most popular options to spot animal movement and admire the beautiful landscape of the park. Jeeps are open-topped vehicles that can accommodate up to six people at a time. You can enjoy the personalised and enriched experience of a jeep safari in Ranthambore either in the morning or in the afternoon with a naturalist.

Safari Vehicles
There are two types of vehicles permitted into Ranthambhore National Park: 4 wheel-drive jeeps (open-top gipsy buses, which seat up to 6 visitors) and 16- or 20-seater canters (open-top roof buses). There are a limited number of vehicles allowed into the park—a maximum of 40 vehicles—17 jeeps for tourists, 3 jeeps for VIPs, and 20 canters at any one time. All these vehicles are attached to the Forest Department and owned and run by local people. Vehicles that are not attached to the forest department are not permitted into the park. Gypsys and canters are booked in advance, and visitors are strongly advised to book their safaris, particularly jeep safaris, well in advance.

Canter Safari in Ranthambore National Park
Ranthambore Tiger Safari Canter safari is the most supreme way to watch exotic wildlife. Most wildlife lovers prefer to go on canter safaris. At a time, Canter Safari can accommodate 16–20 people. It gives personal delight in sightseeing and a unique experience of exploring the magnificent vicinity of the park.
